Become a Political Data Fellow with The Mobilization Center through the Progressive Pipeline Fellowship

About the Role

The Mobilization Center Data Fellow will work with Mobilization Center staff to help to track program efforts on key conservation, human rights and government and democracy issues facing Alaskans. Our goal is to identify and activate Alaskan voters on various campaigns that protect the resources that sustain our cultures and way of life and maintain the health and wellbeing of the greater community.

General Duties:

  • Work with the Managing Partners of the Mobilization Center to pull reports and update key metrics for all Mobilization Center Programs
  • Coordinate staff reporting with regional field managers to hold staff accountable to goals
  • Help organize databases and ensure that data entry is being done accurately
  • Double check data entry from in person work lines up with what’s being reported
  • Create Survey Questions, Scripts and Virtual Phonebanks/MiniVAN campaigns
  • Monitor progress on canvassing efforts and pull new lists accordingly
  • Work with consultants and partners to create strategic lists for outreach, digital ads and mail
  • Help create data entry and reporting solutions for rural programs that often don’t have good access to internet
  • Participate in weekly virtual staff meetings
  • Comply with procedures and policies outlined by The Mobilization Center Employee Manual and The Mobilization Center Employee Handbook
  • Ensure that confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times.
  • Perform any other duty as directed by the Mobilization Center Chief Operating Officer and Program Director

About the Organization

The Mobilization Center (TMC) is an Alaska based, women owned and values driven company that has been running instate field campaigns since 2012. The Mobilization Center provides organizing, data and canvassing services to support some of the most powerful organizations and campaigns in Alaska. Our services are designed to educate, engage, and mobilize Alaskans on key issues that affect our state and the people who call Alaska home. Our goal is to work towards an Alaska that is just and fair for all, prioritize Alaskan voices, and empower Alaskans through civic engagement and voter outreach.

TMC provides field organizing services that include: phone and door canvassing; street canvassing, and event support; literature dropping; yard-sign distribution; peer-to-peer text services; data targeting services and list purchasing; mobilization strategy development; and, digital organizing support, including email follow-up and email acquisition programs.

TMC has an experienced team with a long track record of building and executing successful data, research, and mobilization projects in Alaska. TMC retains a diverse staff of Alaskans representing varied backgrounds, geographies, and identities and hosts a Rural & Indigenous Outreach (RIO) team that focuses on field organizing services in rural Alaska. The Rural & Indigenous Outreach team brings direct knowledge and relationships from rural Alaska to provide authentic outreach tactics and ensure representation of Alaska’s Indigenous and rural communities.

About the Progressive Pipeline Fellowship

The Progressive Pipeline Fellowship offers an enriching experience for current college students, recent graduates, and young professionals who are passionate about making a tangible impact in the social impact sphere through a blend of virtual workshops, mentorship, and hands-on internships with leading organizations in the social impact sector.

We place our Fellows in paid internships and full-time jobs with our hiring partners—social impact groups that share our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. We've worked with over 80 organizations including the Working Families Party, Mi Familia Vota, the Analyst Institute, and the SEIU. Through our screening and matching process, we'll aim to find you a placement aligned with your background, interests, and experiences.

We'll pair you with a mentor.

Through this mentorship, you'll have the opportunity to talk through challenges and opportunities at work, role-play potentially challenging conversations, and bounce ideas around with someone who's been in your shoes. Many Fellows highlight this relationship as the most helpful part of their experience!

We'll pay you.

We're committed to making the program financially accessible to all our fellows. Our host organizations pay their Impact Fellows at least $15/hour for part-time and full-time positions. Once you're matched to a potential placement, we'll share a specific hourly rate and weekly commitment.

We'll broaden your network.

By participating in the program, you'll build relationships with the other fellows in your cohort, your coach, host organization staff, Progressive Pipeline staff, and best of all, you'll join our community of more than 400 Fellowship alumni. You'll leave with a network of friends and mentors, and we'll help you leverage your connections to move forward in your career.

We'll train you.

You'll participate in a sequence of career-readiness trainings designed to equip you with the tools you need to succeed in the fellowship and beyond. We'll share best practices for managing up, asking for feedback, building workplace relationships, networking, and navigating questions of purpose and belonging at work.

We'll help launch your career.

After your Fellowship, we'll stick with our Fellows long-term with career support and connections to future employers. We'll source job applications for you, edit your resume and cover letters, help prepare you for interviews, and work with you to negotiate job offers—whatever it takes to support you in launching a lasting career in the social impact ecosystem.
